AKG D88 Ribbon Microphone (Modded)
Here’s a modded AKG D88 Ribbon Microphone, built with parts from the 1960’s! This D88 had dead elements, and I had an Altec 670B Ribbon Microphone with a damaged body. I replaced the internals in the D88 with both the original ribbon motor and transformer from the Altec 670B. This is now a one of a kind ribbon, with a great look and great sound. The 670B has a punchy warm sound that translates well on drums and more! If you’ve been looking for a unique ribbon with a big sound, this is the microphone for you.
