Amperite RBH Ribbon Microphone
Here’s an Amperite RBH Ribbon Microphone from the 1930’s! Amperite made microphones and other PA equipment out of New York City - you’d find their microphones in clubs and ballrooms throughout the city. There are early photographs of Frank Sinatra and Billie Holiday using this exact same microphone model for their performances. This microphone has been upgraded for modern use with a new Cinemag transformer and balanced output to XLR. With the new transformer, this one has a nice colored sound and a usable output for high SPL sources. If you’re using this microphone on a quiet source, you’ll have a lot of noise without a good pre. This one makes a nice character piece and has nice results on guitar amps. If you’re looking for a microphone with an old sound, this is the one for you! Grab this 85 year old RBH ribbon microphone from Amperite!
