Film Industries M8 Ribbon Microphone
Here are two Film Industries ribbon microphones from the 1950’s ($300 each)! These were made in England with a classic style British ribbon motor but with a long ribbon and three horseshoe magnets. While these sounds great on loud sources, I would only recommend them on loud sources as they are 30 ohms and need a good amount of gain. You’ll get a nice boomy sound when these are used in the crotch position on drums and a warm, full sound when using these on guitar amps. These are especially good for blending with dynamic microphones! These have gooseneck adapters that mostly stay straight so you may need to experiment with different angles (message me for rec’s on modern stand adapters that will let you use these in any position). These have been serviced with new ribbons / cables and are ready for years of use in the studio! Grab one of these British ribbon microphones for boomy ribbon sounds!
