While the 44-A and 44-BX are often times compared to one another, they are very different ribbon microphones with different motors. This 44-A originally had weak magnets (a common issue with some of these models), which were replaced with new Neodymium magnets. All other essential aspects of this microphone are original (including the ribbon motor), and the upgraded magnets made a huge improvement in the overall output and low end frequency response.
