RCA 44-BX Ribbon Microphone
Here’s an RCA 44-BX Ribbon Microphone from the 1950’s! The RCA 44 was an iconic design that combined some of the earliest advances in ribbon microphone technology to create one of the most sought after ribbon microphones ever made. These RCA 44’s have a deep, boomy low end that makes them excel on vocals, horns, drums, guitars and more. When looking for a warm, natural sound that accurately captures a sources sound with a wide range of versatility, the 44 is a great option. This 44-BX is functioning perfectly with a new ribbon and XLR cable (it is set to 250 ohms in the “M” setting). Cosmetically, this one has some pitting to the yoke, cushion mount, and backside of the body. This one has a known history, living most of it’s days at Winthrop College (University) in SC which is displayed by a decal on the side of the mic and badge on the underside. This is a fantastic ribbon microphone that will provide years of good service! Grab this iconic 44-BX from the glory days of RCA!
