RCA BK-5B Ribbon Microphone
Here’s an RCA BK-5B Ribbon Microphone from the 1950’s! These uni-directional ribbons incorporate a blast filter which specifically protects the microphone from “gun blasts and other violent noises”. Due to their durability and uni-directional characteristics, the BK-5B is considered a great option for recording electric guitars in the studio. They’re also great on vocals, horns, snare, and more. This BK-5B has some wear to the paint on the body but is functioning perfectly with a new ribbon and cable. It is also missing the cushion mount and one thumb nut, though the mount has been replaced with a standard stand adapter and nut replaced with a reproduction (one is original).
