RCA MI-3027-G (Original 44) Ribbon Microphone
Here’s an RCA MI-3027-G Ribbon Microphone from the late 1930’s! These MI-3027-G's were the first of the 44-BX line, before they were introduced as the BX models. These were designed for RCA's Photophone Division and used for movie production. These have the same ribbon motors and transformers as a normal BX model, the only difference being that if you want to put the microphone on the "V Setting" (to reduce low end), a wire must be installed rather than the jumper system that the later 44's offered. This is a phenomenal sounding microphone, and one of the best 44's I've had in. These microphones have a large proximity effect when set for their M (music) setting, which can be made more flat by putting them on their V (voice) setting. Whether it’s drums, vocals, guitars, horns or strings, the RCA 44 is a versatile ribbon with great output. This microphone is a clean example of one of the first of this incredible line of microphones. It’s hard to find an 90 year old microphone this clean, and this is a perfect sounding example. This one has been serviced with a new ribbon, new cable, and new grill cloth. If you’ve been looking for a clean 44 that has been serviced and is ready for years of studio use, this is the microphone for you. Grab an iconic microphone in this MI-3027-G from RCA!
