While the PB90 and 44A are often compared with the 44-BX, they have a very different sound and less proximity effect due to a different ribbon motor build that uses horseshoe magnets. Despite their differences, the PB-90 has all of the great characteristics of an early RCA ribbon microphone. These microphones have a silky smooth high end, with nice output that translates well for drums, guitars, vocals, horns, and more.
