Shure 315 Ribbon Microphone (#1)
Here’s a Shure 315 ribbon microphone (#1) from the late 1950’s! These microphones have a smooth response and work well on a variety of sources. I’d recommend these 315’s on guitar amps, drums, horns, some vocals, and more. These microphones don’t have as large of a proximity effect as other ribbons, so they achieve a uniquely flat response. Shure originally made these as an every day utility mic that would have seen use in broadcasting or PA. Unlike the uni-directional Shure 330, these have an open front and back that allow for a bi-directional pattern (though they have the same motor as a 330). These are great microphones to get into the vintage ribbon world with! This microphone is priced slightly lower than the other as it has some wear and light rust - it has been serviced with a new ribbon and XLR connector and is working perfectly! Grab this classic 1950’s ribbon from Shure!
