Shure 546 Dynamic Microphone
Here’s a Shure Unidyne III 546 from the 1960’s! Shure made some of their best microphones in the 60’s, and this 546 is definitely up there on the list. 545’s have become studio go-to’s for guitar amps and snare as they have a brighter and more natural sound than a modern SM57. The top of the line 546 is shock mounted with a dual impedance transformer that gives the microphone more bottom end, making it a highly sought after microphone. The 1968 list price for a 545 was $85, as the 546 went for $135! No matter the source, this 546 will sound great anywhere you put it. This 546 is in nice condition and ready for years of use! The head of this microphone was replaced at some point with another 545 capsule from the same period. The heads are by spec exactly the same - the magic of the 546 is in the body and transformer. Grab this Shure 546 to own one of the best versions of the most popular style microphone ever made!
