STC 4038 Ribbon Microphone
Here's an STC 4038 Ribbon Microphone from the 1960's! The 4038 (now made by Coles) has been one of the most successful ribbon microphones made over the last 75 years. This STC version is the first version with its original brass finish. These microphones are a favorite for drum overheads, as they have a defined proximity effect, even from a distance. The 4038 uses one of the thinnest ribbons available in a ribbon microphone, with a 0.6 micron thick ribbon. This microphone is an excellent example of an early 4038 with its original connector (a new XLR cable has been added), a new 0.6 micron thick ribbon has been installed, and an AEA 4038 SA mount. If you've been looking for an original version of one of the most classic ribbon microphones ever made, this is the microphone for you! Grab this original 4038 from STC!
