STC (Coles) 4105 Dynamic Microphone
Here’s a rare STC (Coles) 4105, made in England in the 1950’s! While STC’s most famous microphone was the 4038 Ribbon microphone, they also made dynamic’s (one of the more well known being the “Ball and Biscuit”). This 4105 has a very open sound due to the holes in the body. It has a nice mid-range and high end brilliance on acoustics, vocals, and drums. It doesn’t handle high pressure sounds particularly well, so I’d mainly recommend this one on acoustic instruments. The connector alone on this one is sought after, as it fits 4038’s, Altec 639’s, and more. These really don’t come up for sale often, so this is a rare chance to own one of STC’s lesser known models. The on and off switch has been bypassed, and this one will attach to any standard stand. Grab an early STC dynamic microphone from England!
