AKG D12 (Modded W/ Beyerdynamic M380 Internals) Dynamic Microphone
Here’s an AKG D12 that has had its internals replaced with a Beyerdynamic M380 capsule! Unfortunately, there are many D12’s out there that have missing coil wires and their signal can’t be restored. I started using the capsules from vintage Beyer headphones (the exact same that were used in the M380) to revive these microphones and make them great kick drum microphones again. The D12 is a perfect fit for the M380 capsule, as it has grills on both sides that compliment the bi-directional capsule. This D12 had some wear to the body and one casing crack that was fixed with epoxy - it is now sounding great with it’s new M380 internals!
