AKG D12E (Modded W/ Beyer M380 Capsule)
Here's a modded AKG D12E body from the 1980's that features the capsule from a sought after Beyerdynamic M380! Beyerdynamic M380’s are known for their deep, bi-directional kick sound and Steve Albini calls them one of his favorite kick mic’s. The M380’s capsule is really the driver from one of their popular vintage studio headphone models, which can be tough to find these days. This D12E wasn't sounding it's best and was unfixable so I replaced the internals with the exact same vintage capsule that you’d find inside the M380. This microphone sounds nearly identical to the M380. The only difference is the housing and lack of a humbucking coil (Beyer would glue them inside on the back of the capsule to reduce noise). This is a fantastic sounding kick microphone that I guarantee to become a studio favorite. This D12E body has medium wear and tear from use over the years. Grab this unique kick microphone combination with the sought after, deep low end of the Beyerdynamic M380!
