Altec made a variety of different microphones for broadcast and recording uses - the most popular being the 639 Ribbon / Dynamic and their “Salt Shaker” dynamic microphones. This 685A has a unique frequency response with a distinct low end. I’d recommend this 685A in any application where a dynamic microphone is generally used! If you’re looking to add some distinctive vintage texture to your sources, this is a nice option. The 685A comes with a 5 Pin to XLR cable.
