Altec 689B Dynamic Microphone
Here are two Altec 689B Dynamic Microphones from the 1960’s (two available at $150 each)! These were high quality cardioid dynamic microphones that Altec made for broadcasting and recording uses. Altec made a variety of different dynamic microphones with unique diaphragm materials - these used a Mylar diaphragm. While these two microphones sound great, it’s hard to find good working examples of these microphones due to the mylar diaphragms breaking down over time when stored in bad environments. Luckily these two are in good shape, with a smooth, punchy response that would work best on drums, guitars, vocals, and more. For reference, these have a sound somewhat in-between the Electro Voice 664 and 666 models. If you’re looking for a unique dynamic option for every day studio use, these make a great affordable option! Grab one of these 689B dynamic microphones from Altec!
