Beyerdynamic M380 Dynamic Microphone (Converted from TGX50)
Here’s a Beyerdynamic M380 Dynamic Microphone that was converted from a TG-X50. Back when Beyerdynamic ran out of the capsules used in the M380’s, they created a new model (the TG-X50), with a different capsule that performed and sounded much different than the original capsule. Because these are the same bodies as the original M380’s, an original capsule will pop right into place. I took a vintage M380 capsule and inserted it into the body, making it identical to an M380 minus a humbucking coil that Beyer glued onto the back of the original capsules to reduce noise. This microphone has a huge proximity effect and low end that has made these microphones a sought after option on kick. The bi-directional pattern is useful when the roominess of a kick is preferred. M380’s are selling for $1k and up these days, so this is a nice opportunity to get the same sound for a better price. This one has some wear to the body but is functioning perfectly.
