Electro Voice V-3 Ribbon Microphone (RCA Varacoustic Internals)
Here’s an EV V3 Ribbon Microphone that a prior owner replaced the internals of with the ribbon motor and transformer from an RCA Varacoustic! In general Electro Voice ribbon microphones have weak magnets and a poor design that calls for replacements (which is why I don’t sell them often). Luckily, this microphone has a major upgrade with the internals and aside from the body is exactly what you’d find with a Varacoustic. This microphone has a nice warm ribbon sound that pairs great with acoustic’s, guitar amps, in front of a drum kit, on horns, and more. When AB’ed with a Varacoustic, this microphone would sound exactly the same. I have set the labyrinth to it’s bi-directional setting, though the settings can easily be changed by removing the back grill. This microphone has been serviced and is ready for use!
