Grundig VR53 Ribbon Microphone
Here’s a 1960’s Lustraphone VR53 ribbon that was made for and rebranded by Grundig! These were made in England for broadcast use. Overall, these ribbons have a smooth response that would work well on many sources. They do need a good amount of clean gain, and noise levels can vary based on location in the room. If noise is an issue, moving the microphone into a horizontal position can greatly improve the issue. I’d recommend these bi-directional ribbons on drums, guitars, vocals, as rooms, horns, and more. They feature a long skinny ribbon with two horseshoe magnets on each side. I’ve added a new cable to XLR, as well as an adapter to mount it to any standard stand. This VR53 is ready for use! Grab a British ribbon microphone from the golden era of the broadcast industry!
