Here’s an Oktava ML-52 Ribbon Microphone from the late 1990’s! These ML-52’s were made more recently than most of the microphones I sell, but they are worth highlighting because they have a unique ribbon motor when compared with many of today’s. The ML-52 has two ribbons, but unlike the Beyer M160 where two ribbons are directly on top of one another, the ML-52 has the ribbons spaced apart with two different ribbon gaps. These mic’s are dark, with a solid low end and big proximity effect. I especially like these on drums, as they sound nice and punchy without being too harsh. This one has been serviced with new ribbons and is ready for years of use! If you’ve been looking for a unique yet affordable ribbon, these ML-52’s are a great option.
