RCA 77-C1 Ribbon Microphone
Here’s an RCA 77-C1 Ribbon Microphone from the 1940’s! These microphones originally had three different non-directional, bi-directional, and uni-directional settings, however this one had a faulty transformer and thus has a new top of the line FAB USA (limited run) transformer and is set to its bi-directional setting. This one can still be set to its other settings with an easy wiring swap, but I think the bi-directional setting is the best. The 77-B and C had different ribbon motors than the 77-D/DX. In many cases these microphones lack output in their stock form, but the new transformer in this microphone gives it a much more usable output. If you’ve been looking for an old ribbon with great depth and low end, this is the microphone for you. This particular 77-C1 excels on drums and guitar amps. Aside from the new transformer and cable, this microphone is all original. Grab this updated RCA 77-C1 from the 1940’s!
