Here’s an RCA PB-90 Ribbon Microphone from the 1930’s! These PB-90’s were the precursor to the RCA 44-A and BX Ribbon Microphones. These microphones have the same style ribbon motor as an RCA 44A. While the PB90 and 44A are often compared with the 44-BX, they have a different sound and less proximity effect due to a different ribbon motor build that uses horseshoe magnets. Despite their differences, the PB-90 has all of the great characteristics of an early RCA ribbon microphone. This particular PB-90 has the strongest magnets I've come across in this model, with a strong output and great low end response. This microphone has been serviced with a new ribbon, XLR cable, and new grill cloth and is in overall great condition for a nearly 100 year old microphone.
