RCA SK-50 Varacoustic Ribbon Microphone
Here’s a beautiful RCA SK-50 from the 1950’s! The SK-50 is different from the earlier Varacoustic models in that it was the last of the line and had the most manufacturing improvements. RCA upgraded the transformers in these models, giving it a more full and balanced sound. There’s a noticeable difference between these and the earlier models! They also changed the mount to a standard sized hole, added an extra screw to keep the body from warping, etc. This is the model you want to have! I’d use this microphone almost anywhere - acoustic, guitar amps, drums, vocals, horns, pianos, and more. This one is in particularly amazing condition for it’s age. I changed out the grill cloth and added a new XLR cable, otherwise it is all original. This is a special ribbon microphone that is set to last for another 100 years. Grab a classic RCA ribbon to give you all of the warmth you need!
