Sennheiser MD407 Dynamic Microphone
Here’s a Sennheiser MD407 Dynamic Microphone from the 1960’s! Like many other early Sennheiser models, the MD407 houses an early 402/1 capsule, which was the earliest version of the 409 capsule design. These microphones are great on guitar amps, acoustics, and other sources where some high end sparkle is needed. These are in general not my favorite choices on drums, and they work best when they are in close proximity to a source and don’t have the best mounts for micing tom’s. This microphone is functioning perfectly with a new XLR connector. This one does have two cracks to the body that have been repaired with epoxy - they are structurally strong and won’t cause issues other than cosmetics. If you’ve been looking for a 409 type microphone at a lower price, this is the microphone for you! Grab this MD407 from the early days of Sennheiser!
