Shure 546 Unidyne III Dynamic Microphone (See Details)

$250.00 USD
Here’s what I’m calling a “Frankenstein” 1960’s Shure 546. This microphone has a 566 body and transformer (which is exactly the same as a 546), and a 545 capsule (which again is the exact same as a 546). I’ve compared this microphone with another 546 and they are spec to spec the same and also sound exactly the same! In the 1950’s Shure released the 545 which is the earliest version of today’s SM57. Due to parts changes and a factory here in the US vintage 545’s are higher quality and have a more warm and natural sound than today’s 57’s. Shure released the highest quality version of the 545 as a 546 - which included a shock mounted base and larger transformer with selectable impedances. The 546 is sought after due to the fact that the larger transformer gives it a slightly improved sound over a normal 545. This 546 is sounding great and ready for years of use! I’d recommend it on almost any source - snare top, guitar amps, acoustics, vocals, and more. Grab a classic Shure Unidyne III microphone from the 1960’s!
