These microphones have the same element as a typical 545 but have been serviced with removed high impedance transformers making them low impedance with a balanced output. Bypassing the transformers in Shure microphones is a common practice as it adds low end and enhanced transients while sounding more natural in the high end (think SM7, which is also transformer-less). These microphones are sounding great, and make a perfect option for vocals, snare, guitar amps, and more. The on / off switch has been bypassed in these microphones for ease of use.
