Steane’s Sound Systems was a company based out of Sydney, Australia that made both professional and amateur microphones for broadcasting, recording, etc. This Ellipsoid E85 was a uni-directional model that had a small size yet full range sound. This Ellipsoid originally had a high impedance transformer, so I changed it to a low impedance modern transformer to make it more applicable for today’s uses. This microphone has a mid-rangey tone with a pronounced low end that makes it a great option for drums, guitars, and more.
