Telefunken ELA M0300 Crystal Microphone
Here's a Telefunken ELA M 0300 Crystal Microphone from the early 1940’s ($150 Each)! Crystal microphones were popular microphones in the 1930’s and 40’s and used a piezoelectric crystal to produce an electrical output. These ELA M 0300’s have a crunchy colored sound that make a unique effects microphone. Crystal microphones aren’t known for a nice clean sound - these are a cool option if you are trying to go for something weird (or they make nice looking talk-back microphones). These would have been some of the first public address microphones Telefunken released under their name, and these are a rare model with little information out there. These come with their original Telefunken base stands. I’ve rewired these with a well grounded output and new cables to XLR. Grab one of these ELA 0300’s from Telefunken for a nice history piece with some unique character!
